Speaking to my Soul
If you didn't know, I'm a black and white movie, polaroid camera, and antique shopping kinda gal. So when I heard and saw a hack that photographers were doing to achieve a vintage film look on their photo shoots I just HAD to try it out for myself.
Seemed simple enough; take some panty hose, cover your lens with it, and let magic happen. And magic was what it created! The photos came out nostalgic, grainy, and instantly LOVED.
Looking ahead...
My style is vintage, emotion, and detail orientated. The panty hose effect is something that will now be a part of every photoshoot from here on out. It won't be every photo, just one that I think would be gorgeous with that lovely look.
Now, I haven't mentioned film in the blog, but I've been sharing that I'm starting to offer add-on's to wedding packages. At this point I'm only offering the Fujifilm Instax Polaroid add-on to wedding sessions, but once I've done a few of them and have a better groove then I will open up the add-on's to any session. I'm beyond excited to increase the elements that I love into my photography offerings.
I'm working on finding a local business to develop film for my other add-on's with my 35mm film camera. I find this to be so exciting because I never want photography to become a "job". I want to have clients, be creative, and send photos for people to cherish. It brings me so much joy and I want that to stay my hobby and way to relax and rejuvenate my soul. Once the film option becomes a reality with logistics I'm going to open up an option that is going to be 100% Cassidy. Tossing around the idea of calling it the "Keepsake Album" which would include film photographs, invites, mementos, and other special details from the wedding day all in a curated for client wedding book. Think of it as a scrapbook from a wedding with never-before seen shots that are one of a kind and only available in the physical album. I'm obsessed with this idea because it's unique to each couple and will arrive months after the "I do's" have been spoken.
Not only is film coming, but I want to dive more into the art focused side of photography. I'm looking for individuals who would like to add to model portfolios and/or individuals that just enjoy more creative photos of themselves. I want to take classic artworks and recreate them with modern touches. Think, "Girl with the Pearl Earring" and switch it up to a woman with a patterned scarf on her head and a gold hoop earring. These photos would be free as long as I can keep all copyrights and share on social media or in art galleries. If this sounds like something you would be up to do or you know someone that would please send them my way via my website or Instagram.
Until next time, stay up to date on my work via Instagram and feel free to say "hi!" or share cool ideas you think I might like anytime!
click click,
Cassidy
